NOPD Eighth District officers have arrested Joseph Guillot Jr. (DOB: 01-07-90) minutes after he robbed two victims by gunpoint on Monday, May 1, 2017.
The first incident happened at the intersection of South Villere and Cleveland Avenue. At around 10:56 a.m., the victim told police an unknown male produced a handgun and demanded the victim's money. The victim complied and the unknown male then made his way in the 100 block of LaSalle, where he allegedly robbed a second victim by gunpoint three minutes later.
Officers then broadcast a full description through all channels fitting the suspect. By 11:00 a.m., Eighth District officers along with assistance from State Police were able to apprehend the suspect, later identified as Guillot, in the 100 block of LaSalle Street. Tulane University Police also assisted in the investigation.
During the arrest, officers confiscated a handgun and other property found in Guillot's possession. Both victims positively identified Guillot as the perpetrator in the respective incidents.
Guillot was booked into Central Lockup on charges including two counts of armed robbery, among other charges.

In Louisiana, an armed robbery conviction requires the offender to be imprisoned at hard labor for 10 – 99 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. When a firearm is used in the commission of the crime, the offender will be imprisoned for an additional 5 years that will be served consecutively to the original sentence.
