Firearm Confiscated Outside Club on Bourbon Street

Earlier today (May 21) Eighth District officers confiscated a firearm and apprehended an individual for illegally carrying a firearm inside an establishment that sells alcohol.

Andre White (7-16-1995) was arrested shortly after 2:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Bourbon Street.

NOPD officers Samuel Senter and Daniel Oquendo were flagged down by a citizen regarding a large fight inside a bar. The officers responded and removed all parties involved then began to conduct an investigation.

The bar security manager approached the officers and told them there had been a man inside the bar who was carrying a concealed weapon. He pointed out Andre White, who had exited the bar and had begun walking toward Canal Street. The officers then approached White and asked if he was carrying a firearm. He stated he was and the officers took White into custody and confiscated the Smith & Wesson M&P 9 mm firearm and nine live rounds of ammunition.

White was transported to Central Lock-Up and booked without incident.
