The NOPD has arrested three people and is seeking one more in connection with a shooting that occurred at Canal & Royal Streets on March 18, 2024.

According to investigators, the victim, a 24-year old Black male, was standing on the corner when a black SUV drove up and someone inside began shooting at the victim, striking him in the leg. He was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

Through investigation, detectives identified three subjects believed to have been in the vehicle.  All three have been arrested.  An arrest warrant has been issued for a fourth suspect, believed to have perpetrated the shooting.

Wanted is Maurice Dotson, (pictured Black male DOB: 2-29-2004). He is being sought on charges of attempted second degree homicide by drive-by shooting, illegal discharge of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and obstruction of justice.

Arrested are: Kevion Thigpen, Black male, DOB: 3-15-2002

                 Zykia Smith, Black female, DOB: 1-16-1998

             Tacoria Brown, Black female, DOB: 5-18-2002

The arrested are all charged with attempted second degree homicide by drive-by shooting and obstruction of justice.
