NOPD Arrests Four Juvenile Suspects in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested four juvenile suspects – a 17-year-old juvenile male, a 16-year-old female and two 15-year-old juvenile females in the investigation of a fatal carjacking incident on March 21, 2022, in the 300 block of North Scott Street that left a 73-year-old female victim deceased.

At about 1:35 p.m., First District officers responded to a call of a carjacking and, upon their arrival, located the victim lying on the ground unresponsive and suffering from her arm being dismembered from her body. The victim, later identified as Linda Frickey, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary indicates that the victim was thrown from her vehicle during the commission of the offense. The suspects fled in the victim’s 2021 grey Nissan Kicks, bearing a Louisiana license plate 759FAR.

As investigation continued, the victim’s vehicle was recovered later in the day at another location. Also, detectives obtained surveillance video of four subjects believed to be the perpetrators in this incident. The photos were circulated through NOPD social medial channels and through local media outlets. Shortly thereafter, the mother of one of the 15-year-old female suspects turned her daughter in to police. Later in the evening, officers located and arrested the male suspect and one of the female suspects at the location after receiving information from the male suspect's parents. The remaining female suspect surrendered to police this morning (March 22).

The suspects were each booked into the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center on one count of second-degree murder. As the suspects are juveniles, their names and photos will not be released by police.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to call NOPD Homicide Unit Det. Rayell Johnson at 504-658-5300.
