NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours today (March 1, 2021) at the intersection of South I-10 Service Road and Mayo Boulevard that left one person dead.

At about 5:37 a.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to the location and observed an unknown male lying face down in the street and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene, at which time NOPD Homicide Unit detectives assumed command of the investigation.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as motive. No further information is available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the decedent’s official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
