NOPD Announces Significant Arrests Made March 22-28

Listed below are significant arrests or warrants obtained in investigations by the NOPD between March 22-28, 2021:

 

Shootings

  • On March 17, NOPD Eighth District arrested Richard Clark (male, DOB: 01-25-1992) in the investigation of a shooting at the intersection of St. Charles Avenue and Poydras Street. The incident occurred that day. (This listing was inadvertently left off last week’s arrest report).
  • On March 20, NOPD Seventh District obtained an arrest warrant for a 16-year-old juvenile male in the investigation of a shooting on March 6, 2021 in the 7900 block of Hammond Street. On March 25, NOPD VOWS and SRT officers served a search warrant at a residence in the 4600 block of Warren Drive and arrested the juvenile for second-degree aggravated battery and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
  • On March 23, NOPD Fifth District arrested Donald Anthony Brooks (male, DOB: 05-07-1994) in the investigation of a shooting that day in the 3200 block of Ursula Spencer Way.
  • On March 22, NOPD Sixth District arrested Byron Coleman (male, DOB: 12-12-1991) in the investigation of a shooting in the 2300 block of Washington Avenue on March 21. Coleman was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for aggravated battery by shooting, armed robbery, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of a firearm with control dangerous substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Armed Robberies

  • On March 20, NOPD Fifth District arrested William Lewis (male, DOB: 06-23-1994) in the investigation of an attempted armed robbery on March 9 at the intersection of St. Claude Avenue and St. Ferdinand Street.
  • On March 22, NOPD First District obtained an arrest warrant for James Taylor (male, DOB: 06-06-1981) in the investigation of an armed robbery on March 12 in the 1500 block of Rousselin Drive. Anyone with information on Taylor’s whereabouts is asked to call NOPD First District detectives at 504-658-6010 or Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.
  • On March 22, NOPD Seventh District obtained an arrest warrant for a 14-year-old juvenile male suspect in an armed robbery on March 15 in the 7000 block of Crowder Boulevard. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070 or Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.
  • On March 24, NOPD Eighth District arrested Melvin Pane (male, DOB: 08-05-1984) and Edward Collar (Male, DOB: 06-21-1967) in the investigation of an armed robbery that day in the 3200 block of Third Street.
