Suspect in Seventh District Attempted Murder Arrested in Houston

Houston Police arrested Anthony Bailey (pictured, DOB: 06-18-1990) in the investigation of an attempted murder in New Orleans that occurred on March 3, 2020

At about 9:11 a.m. on March 3, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a simple battery in the 12000 block of South I-10 Service Road.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim had sustained multiple injuries and reported that a male subject – later positively identified as Bailey – had physically assaulted her, held her captive in a hotel room at the location and threatened at gunpoint to kill her.

As the investigation progressed, the signal for the incident was changed to an attempted homicide and a warrant was obtained for Bailey’s arrest. Detectives later learned that Bailey had fled to Houston, Texas and determined his location to be at a hotel in the city. NOPD detectives related this information to Houston Police, who located and arrested Bailey on March 6. During the arrest, Bailey was reportedly found to be in possession of approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine and 9 grams of heroin.

Bailey is currently incarcerated in Houston, awaiting the outcome of pending charges there. Upon completion of prosecution in Houston, Bailey will be extradited to New Orleans to face charges of attempted second degree murder, second degree battery, false imprisonment, simple criminal damage to property, theft and aggravated assault.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
