NOPD Investigating Sixth District Homicide

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (March 6, 2020) in the 2000 block of Foucher street.

At about 8:44 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the block. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying on the ground and suffering from gunshot wound(s). The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. At that time, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives assumed control of the investigation.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
