NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the overnight hours today (March 5, 2020) in the 1400 block of Annette Street.

At about 1:04 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a medical call in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. At that time, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives assumed control of the investigation.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
