NOPD Searches for Suspect, Person of Interest in Armed Carjacking Incident

The NOPD is searching for the pictured subject who is wanted for his involvement in an armed carjacking incident that occurred on Saturday, (March 24).

The victim told police he was waiting for his passengers for Lyft in the 1000 block of Frenchmen Street when an unknown male approached his vehicle asking for the time. The suspect then demanded the victim to exit the vehicle. The victim noticed the handle of a black handgun in the subject’s waistband, at which time he exited the vehicle. The subject fled the location in the victim's vehicle heading down St. Claude Avenue.

The vehicle in this incident is described as a black 2014 Nissan Altima bearing Louisiana license plate #762AKD. The victim’s Chase credit card, Capital One credit card and Louisiana driver’s license were in the vehicle during the time of the armed carjacking.

Eighth District officers are also searching for a second female subject who is considered a person of interest and is wanted for questioning.

The perpetrator is described as a black male, 5’8 tall, wearing a black hoodie and black pants. The subject is also believed to be involved in an armed robbery incident that occurred that same day near the intersection of Royal and Touro Streets.
