NOPD TIGER Unit Makes Arrest in November 2016 Armed Robbery on Dreux Street

Investigators with the NOPD Special Operations Division’s Tactical Intelligence Gathering and Enforcement Response unit, or TIGER, arrested Charvin Williams (DOB: 07-13-1999) on March 23, 2017 in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on November 2, 2016 in the 2600 block of Dreux Street.

On the date of the incident, the victim reported he was robbed at gun point of his iPhone 5S by a suspect described as a black male wearing a blue and red Adidas hat, white and blue Adidas shirt, blue Adidas pants and armed with a semi-automatic pistol. The victim described the pistol as black with a pink slide.

Through the course of the investigation, TIGER Unit detectives, along with Third District detectives, developed Williams as a suspect in the incident and were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Williams on one count of armed robbery. TIGER Unit detectives began searching for Williams, but were unsuccessful in locating him for several months until they received information that Williams was possibly at a residence in the 7500 block of Read Blvd. Surveillance in the area led TIGER investigators to locate Williams at the residence, where they took Williams into custody on March 27 without incident. A search warrant was also conducted on the location.

After being relocated to the Special Operations Division station, Williams was relocated to the SOD Compound and, after being advised of his Miranda rights, voluntarily confessed to his role in the armed robbery.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Third District detectives at 504-658-6030. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
