NOPD Makes Gun Arrest on Martin Drive

The NOPD has taken another gun off the streets with the arrest of Michael Williams (DOB: 9-8-1994).

On March 14, 2017, at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers of the NOPD Street Gang Unit were on patrol looking for a suspect in the 7000 block of Martin Drive. The officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s car, however when they stopped the car they discovered their suspect was not in the vehicle.

An occupant of the vehicle, Michael Williams, was observed stuffing what was believed to be a firearm into his front waistband.  The officers instructed Williams to exit the vehicle and discovered he was carrying a fully loaded pistol with one round in the chamber.

Officers then discovered that there was an active warrant out for Williams for violation of his probation. He was then charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

If you have any information regarding this incident please notify any Seventh District detective at 504-658-6070.
