The NOPD has apprehended Donald Hayes (DOB: 10/09/1980) in connection with a shooting that took place in the 5700 block of North Prieur last week.
The victim reported that at approximately 10:35 a.m. on March 6, 2017, he and Hayes were involved in a verbal altercation when Hayes produced a firearm and shot at him twice. Hayes then fled the scene.
NOPD Detective Chad Cockerham identified Hayes as a suspect with the assistance of the NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS), and the victim identified Hayes as the perpetrator in this incident. Hayes was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, two counts of illegal discharge of a weapon, and illegal possession of a firearm.
