NOPD Searching for Stolen Vehicle Linked to Several Vehicle Burglaries

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating a stolen vehicle that is believed to have been used in the commission of several vehicle burglaries in the past several days in the Second and Sixth districts.

On Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at about 4:55 p.m., a silver 2007 Honda CRV SUV bearing Louisiana license plate # RPF621 was reported stolen from the 7000 block of Pritchard Place.

NOPD Second District detectives believe that, subsequent to the auto theft, the same Honda CRV has been used by the perpetrators of several vehicle burglaries in the Second and Sixth districts. These include:

  • June 6, 2018, at about 5:50 p.m. in the 500 block of General Taylor Street.
  • June 7, 2018, at about 4:55 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Johnson Street.
  • June 7, 2018, at about 5:14 p.m. in the 5600 block of Laurel Street.
  • June 8, 2018, at about 11:45 a.m. in the 6500 block of Magazine Street.

Through investigations, detectives have determined that that most, if not all, of the above incidents involved vehicles which had been left unlocked.

The public is reminded to lock all vehicle doors, remove spare keys (e.g. valet keys) and to either remove from the vehicle items that may attract attention or conceal these items from view.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents, the aforementioned vehicle and/or its occupant(s) is asked to contact NOPD Second District detectives at 504-658-6020 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
