The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (June 28, 2023) in the 9000 block of Almonaster Avenue.
At about 1:28 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a body in the roadway at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unknown male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. Therefore, no additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the family.
Homicide Detective Joe Jefferson is the lead investigator.
