The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (June 17, 2023) in the 2600 block of Elder Street that left one person dead.
At about 12:07a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. Therefore, no additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the family.
