The NOPD has arrested two suspects and recovered drugs and weapons in the Sixth District.
On May 28, 2023, Sixth District officers were patrolling in the in the 2700 block of Loyola Avenue when they observed a suspect allegedly concealing a firearm. That subject got into a vehicle with another person.
Officers attempted a stop of the subjects and quickly arrested one while another fled on foot. That suspect was observed throwing bags over a fence as he ran. Officers soon apprehended the second subject and officers recovered the bags which contained approximately 85 grams of a controlled substance.
In addition, officers confiscated a stolen firearm along with illegal magazines.
Arrested were Joshua Simmons (Black male, DOB: 05-02-2001) and Jimmie Trepagnier (Black male 8-18-1995).
Trepagnier is charged with one count of intent to distribute a controlled substance and resisting arrest. Simmons is facing one count of intent to distribute a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
