NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (June 27, 2022) in the 1400 block of Iberville Street and left one person dead.

At about 9;26 p.m., NOPD received a call of shots fired in the area that was soon after increased to an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim on scene and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where she was later declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
