NOPD Investigates Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide by shooting that claimed the life of one adult male Monday (June 7) evening in the First District.

At around 6:40 p.m., First District officers responded to reports of an aggravated battery by shooting in the 1900 block of St. Ann Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he died.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
