NOPD Investigates Homicide, Shooting in Third District

New Orleans police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of one adult male and injured another in the 4100 block of Jumonville Street Monday afternoon.
 

At around 4:23 p.m., Third District officers responded to reports of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The first victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS. The second victim was transported to the hospital by EMS.
 

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
 

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
