NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

 NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours today (June 1, 2020) at the intersection of Tulane Avenue and South Solomon Street that left one person dead and two injured.

Just before 2:00 a.m., an NOPD officer patrolling in the area reported hearing gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle crashed at the location and on fire. Upon investigation, officers located an adult male victim inside of the vehicle. The victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was declared dead at the scene. Two additional victims who also sustained gunshot wounds were located at the scene and were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
