NOPD Arrests Suspect in Eighth District Shooting

The NOPD has arrested the suspect believed responsible for an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred in the Eighth District.

Eighth District detectives positively identified Christopher Doty (B/M DOB: 10/26/1964) as the perpetrator of a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Bourbon Street around 12 p.m. (noon) on May 31, 2019.

Doty is accused of entering an establishment and engaging in a verbal altercation with the victim. During the argument, Doty pulled a firearm and shot the victim once in the abdomen.

The victim as transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Doty will be booked on the following charges:

  • Aggravated second degree battery
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Possession of firearm in alcohol beverage outlet
