NOPD Arrests Suspect in Seventh District Aggravated Assault

The NOPD has arrested Thaddeus Long (DOB: 02-22-1982) in the investigation of an aggravated assault with a firearm that occurred in the 7100 block of Yorktown Drive on June 16, 2019.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., Long was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with friends at a party. After this altercation, Long allegedly produced a handgun and began firing it. No one was reported to have been struck by the alleged gunfire.

After this incident, Long reportedly handed the firearm to a friend, who left the scene. Later, that same evening, the arrested subject reportedly obtained a second handgun, which he allegedly pointed at the victims.

Long was later arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for one count each of aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal use of a firearm.

Investigation into this incident remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
