NOPD Investigating Fatal Shooting on Olive Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred today (June 14, 2017) in the 7800 block of Olive Street.

At about 11:11 a.m., Second District officers responded to a complaint call of possible forced entry into a residence in the area. En route to the location, officers received a call of shots fired in the same area. Upon arrival at about 11:15 a.m., officers discovered inside the residence the unresponsive body of a female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
