UPDATE: NOPD Investigates Homicide, Vehicle of Interest Found

The NOPD is investigating a homicide and searching for a vehicle of interest that was seen near the intersection of North Prieur and Almonaster Avenue today (June 19).

At around 5:05 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting at the intersection. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene by EMS. Through the course of the investigation, detectives discovered a red vehicle seen in the area during the incident. 

Investigators are still currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
