NOPD Arrests Suspect on Drug, Firearm Charges at Dumaine and North Dorgenois Streets

The NOPD on June 13, 2017 arrested Terrell Muse (DOB: 05-16-1993) on drug and firearm possession charges stemming from a narcotics investigation near the intersection of Dumaine and North Dorgenois streets.

At about 7:30 p.m., First District officers received information from a surveillance unit in the area that observed a black male, later identified as Muse, removing items from his waistband area and placing them inside of a parked vehicle near the intersection. As the officers approached Muse and another male subject who were standing near the intersection, both subjects began to act nervous as the officers inspected the vehicle within which Muse was observed placing objects. During questioning, Muse denied that he knew the owner/occupant of the vehicle. Officers then noticed the vehicle’s engine was running but no occupants inside, which is illegal.

As officers opened the vehicle doors to obtain information, they viewed in plain sight two Glock semi-automatic handguns, packaged amounts of heroin and crack cocaine and two masks. The officers later discovered Muse was in possession of the vehicle’s keys, and the surveillance officer positively identified Muse as the subject he observed placing items in the vehicle.

Muse was placed under arrest and booked into Central Lockup on charges of possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics. Investigation into the firearms uncovered that one of the guns was reported as stolen, which brought about an additional charge of possession of a stolen firearm.

Anyone with additional information pertinent to this investigation is asked to contact First District detectives at 504-658-6010. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
