Earlier today, an NOPD Eighth District officer arrested Christopher Mukes (DOB:05-27-89) during a traffic stop and located 19 bags of cocaine, 11 bags of marijuana and liquid methamphetamine in the suspect’s possession.

At about 12:18 a.m., Eighth District Officer Alex Brady was patrolling in the area when he observed a vehicle disregard a red light at the intersection of Elysian Fields and St. Claude Avenue. As the officer approached the vehicle, Mukes was discovered as the driver of the vehicle. While speaking with Mukes, officer Brady smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle.

Once additional officers arrived on scene, Officer Brady conducted a search of Mukes and discovered two bags of cocaine inside of the subject’s pants pockets. Mukes was then placed under arrest. Officers then searched a satchel bag that was located inside of the vehicle. During that search, officers located one jar containing 11 bags of marijuana, one plastic bag containing eight bags of cocaine, another plastic bag containing 11 plastic bags of cocaine, one digital scale and one grinder.

The vehicle also had a glass jar containing what was later determined to be liquid based methamphetamine.
