The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred July 11, 2023 in the 7900 block of Lehigh Street that left one person dead.

At about 1:35 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a shooting at the location.  Upon arrival, officers located a 47-year-old female who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where she later was pronounced deceased.

A 56-year-old man turned himself in to the Third District station in connection with this incident.  He is currently being detained.

Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and determine official cause of death upon completion of the autopsy and notification of family.  

Homicide detective Chris Puccio is the lead investigator in this case.
