The NOPD has arrested Tarref Simon (black male, DOB: 04-12-1977) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on July 21, 2023, in the 4800 block of Perelli Drive that left one person dead.

At about 3:48 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a stabbed person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male inside of a residence who had sustained multiple stab wounds. The victim was declared deceased on scene. A subject, later identified as Simon, was detained at the scene and transported for treatment of lacerations.

Through further investigation, it was determined that the incident originated from an argument between the subject and victim. It was also determined that the detained subject, later identified as Simon, was the perpetrator in this incident.

Upon release from medical care, Simon was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy. No additional information is currently available.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
