NOPD Arrests Suspect in Connection with Multiple Eighth District Vehicle Burglaries

On July 26, 2023, the NOPD arrested Keddrick Butler Jr. (black male, DOB: 05-14-2004), who is believed to be involved in multiple vehicle burglary incidents that occurred in the Eighth District earlier this month.

During the month of July, the NOPD’s Eighth District experienced a rash of auto burglaries involving perpetrators reportedly utilizing a light blue Honda Civic in the perpetration of these incidents. During one of these burglaries, the perpetrators reportedly committed an aggravated assault with a firearm on two of the victims.

During an unrelated investigation, detectives assigned to the NOPD’s Violent Crime Abatement Investigative Team and the Sixth District determined Butler to be in possession of the suspect vehicle. An arrest warrant was obtained by Eighth District detectives for Butler on two counts of aggravated assault and for 27 counts of auto burglary.

On July 26, members of VCAIT located the suspect vehicle and Butler at a residence in the 6900 block of Boston Street. Butler was arrested on scene and Eighth District detectives obtained a search warrant, which was enacted with the assistance of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals.  A search of the residence revealed 12 firearms, six of which were reported stolen in auto burglary incidents in the Eighth District. Butler was additionally charged on multiple firearm violations.

Butler was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information on these incidents is urged to contact NOPD Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080.
