NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early hours today (July 29, 2020) near the intersection of St. Roch Avenue and North Tonti Street that left one victim dead and two victims injured.

At about 5:36 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males near the intersection of St. Roch Avenue and Peace Court with apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital via New Orleans EMS.

A third adult male victim was located in the 2500 block of North Rocheblave with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was declared dead at the scene, at which time NOPD Homicide Unit detectives assumed control of the investigation.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
