Suspect Identified in Third District Armed Robbery

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Makylan Vaughn in the investigation of an armed robbery that occurred in the 4900 block of Chef Menteur Highway on June 29, 2019.

Through investigation, NOPD Third District detectives learned that the victim was socializing with a male she had recently met within the last several days. The male then allegedly grabbed the victim’s purse and violently removed the purse from the victim’s shoulder. The male then reportedly retrieved a firearm from his waistband and pointed it at the victim stating, threatening to shoot the victim. The male then removed cash from the victim’s purse and fled the location with two other unknown black males in a gray Chevrolet Impala towards the Seventh District.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to positively identify Vaughn as the perpetrator and obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of armed robbery with a firearm.
