NOPD Investigating Double Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide by shooting that occurred today (July 2, 2019) at the intersection of Downman and Dwyer roads that claimed the lives of two victims.

At about 2:21 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims in the area suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was declared dead at the scene. A second victim was transported via EMS to an area hospital, where he later died.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
