Suspect Identified in Aggravated Assault Incident on North I-10 Service Road

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Daniel Smith (DOB: 08-19-1990) in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on June 28, 2018 in the 12000 block of North I-10 Service Road.

On the date of the incident, Smith allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. After this altercation, Smith reportedly picked up a landscaping brick and threw it at the victim’s head, narrowly missing her and leaving a dent in the victim’s door.

Based on the evidence and circumstances of the incident, NOPD Seventh District detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Smith for aggravated assault, theft, simple battery and simple assault.

In addition, Smith is wanted on previous outstanding warrants for violation of a protective order and domestic abuse battery in an incident that occurred in January 2018.
