The NOPD and its law enforcement partners delivered on a commitment made last week to be aggressive in the removal of illegal firearms from the streets of New Orleans’ Eighth District that includes the French Quarter and Central Business District during the Fourth of July weekend and 2018 Essence Festival.

 

That joint effort lead to the arrests of 12 subjects who were found to be in the possession of 13 illegal weapons over the three day period, helping to ensure a relatively quiet and safe holiday period in the City’s busiest district.”

 

So far this year in the Eighth District, there have been 120 arrests for carrying illegal guns. That compares to 97 at the same point in 2017 and 99 in all of 2016.

 

At the midway point of 2018, overall crime is down three percent compared to last year.

Violent crime in the district is down one incident over last year, with 161 incidents, compared to 162 in 2017

 

For historical context, at the midway point for 2016, that number stood at 232. Midway through 2015 it was 207.

 

In 2018, there have been seven non-fatal shootings reported in the Eighth District. Arrests have been made in six of those seven cases for an 86-percent clearance rate.

Bruce Wayne Jacobs (B/M 7/30/1996) is charged with the illegal carrying of a concealed weapon.

 

Stephen Starks, (B/M DOB: 5/19/91) is charged with illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of narcotics, drug possession.

Collin Rainey (B/M 11/24/1998) illegal carrying of a weapon

 

Radonda Beauchamp (B/M 1/1/1981) illegal carrying of a weapon

 

Kevin Staes (B/M 7/21/1993) illegal carrying of a weapon

 

Lyndell Davis (B/M DOB: 9/8/96) is charged with illegal possession of a (2) guns, drug possession.

 

Nicholas Williams (B/M DOB: 6/27/1982) is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

Cash Cobbins (B/M DOB: 7/19/1991) is charged with illegal carrying of a gun, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, drug possession.

 

O’Brian D. Howard (B/M DOB: 11/11/1984) is charged with illegal carrying of a weapon, drug possession.

 

Kiemond Lee (B/M DOB: 9/19/1994) is charged with possession of marijuana and illegally carrying a concealed weapon.

 

Tra’Var Deonte Randolph (B/M DOB: 9/8/97) is charged with illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia.
