NOPD Identifies Suspect in Battery of Police Officer in Second District

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Neon Arnold (DOB: 07-05-1987) in connection with a battery of a police officer that occurred on June 30, 2018 near the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Mistletoe Street.

On the date of the incident, Second District officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection. During the stop, officers detected the aroma of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. As the officers investigated, the driver – identified later as Arnold – announced he did not have a driver’s license, at which time the officers asked him to step out of the vehicle. Instead of following the instructions given by the officers, Arnold allegedly placed the vehicle into drive, striking a pole. As the officers attempted to open the driver’s door to remove Arnold, the subject placed the vehicle into reverse, striking one of the officers before fleeing through the parking lot of a business. Arnold then reportedly struck at least two parked vehicles before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot. The officer struck in the incident sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Second District detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Arnold for flight from an officer, battery on a police officer and traffic violations. In addition, Arnold is wanted in connection with a June incident for simple assault and simple criminal damage to property.

It should be noted Arnold’s current hair style is a short, unkept bush style with partial facial hair.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Neon Allen is asked to contact Second District detectives at 504-685-6020 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
