Traffic Stop Leads to Drugs and Gun Arrest

NOPD Seventh District detectives made another arrest for possession of narcotics and a firearm yesterday (July 10).

At approximately 5 p.m. detectives Dylan Warter and Michael Sartain conducted a traffic stop on a gray Infiniti operating without a properly displayed license plate on Curran Boulevard.

During the traffic stop one of the four occupants, later identified as Darrell Brazile (DOB: 10-8-1992), acted suspiciously and failed to comply with the officers’ commands. Brazile was instructed to exit the vehicle and the officers conducted a pat down search. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and Ecstasy pills, and his backpack contained a black semi-automatic 9mm handgun, a 12 round magazine with one in the chamber, and an additional extended magazine containing nine rounds.

The driver was cited for the improperly displayed license plate and released along with the other occupants.

Brazile was arrested for illegal carrying of a weapon with a CDS, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of marijuana and Ecstasy.
