Suspect Arrested for Vehicle Burglary on Downman Road

On July 14, 2017, the NOPD arrested Christopher Jacobs (DOB: 02-04-2000) shortly after he allegedly burglarized a vehicle in the 3900 block of Downman Road.

Just before 8 a.m., an unknown black male was observed walking from a bus stop at the intersection of Downman Road and Chef Menteur Highway to the victim’s parked vehicle in the 3900 block of Downman Road. The subject was seen entering the victim’s vehicle and, after a short time, exiting the vehicle and returning to the bus stop. A witness at the scene advised the victim and an off-duty NOPD officer of this incident. The off-duty officer then detained the subject, later identified as Jacobs, until an on-duty Seventh District officer responded to arrest the subject.

Jacobs was booked into Central Lockup on a charge of simple burglary of an automobile and resisting an officer.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
