Subject Wanted for DNA Swab in Homicide Investigation

Subject Wanted for DNA Swab in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD is seeking to locate Roman Smith (DOB: 10-27-1993) for a DNA swab in connection with the investigation of a 2016 homicide in the 2600 block of Jasmine Street.

At about 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016, NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim inside a residence and suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg and chest. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Smith is not wanted as a suspect in this incident. However, a search warrant has been issued by a Magistrate Court Judge for a DNA swab from Smith in regards to this incident.
