NOPD Investigates Homicide on North Johnson Street

The NOPD is investigating a double shooting that left one male victim dead and another injured on Sunday night (July 9, 2017).

At around 10:25 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to shots fired in the 1900 block of North Johnson Street.  A few moments later, First District officers were flagged down by a citizen at the intersection of North Galvez and St. Bernard Streets. Upon arrival, officers located two male victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside of a vehicle that was parked outside of a fast food restaurant.

The passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene and the driver was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Investigators are still in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify a person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
