NOPD Arrests Juvenile Suspect in Armed Robbery at St. Louis and North Galvez Streets

On July 24, 2017, the NOPD arrested a 14-year-old juvenile suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on July 17 at the intersection of St. Louis and North Galvez streets.

At about 9:18 p.m., the victim was riding her bicycle in the area when she was allegedly approached by a young black male. The subject then reportedly pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded her bicycle. The victim was pushed off the bicycle and the subject rode the bicycle away from the scene, heading east on North Galvez Street.

The victim provided to police a description of the perpetrator, the weapon used and of her bicycle. Investigators canvassing the area recovered the victim’s bicycle within minutes of the reported robbery, locating the bicycle in the 2400 block of Magic Street.

Through the course of the follow-up investigation detectives developed the 14-year-old juvenile male as the perpetrator in this incident. The juvenile was located and placed under arrest on a charge of armed robbery with a gun. Upon arrest, the suspect provided a formal statement and confessed to the robbery.

The juvenile was booked into the Youth Studies Center on a count of armed robbery in this incident.
