NOPD Arrest Man for Negligent Homicide on Cameron

The NOPD has arrested Skyler Nicoulin (DOB: 3-1-1996) for negligent homicide in the fatal shooting of an adult male victim, about 19-20-years-old. The incident occurred in the 6200 block of Cameron Street.

At around 2:23 p.m. on Friday (July 14), NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a shooting inside a home on Cameron Street. Upon arrival, officers found the male victim inside of the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the body. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the victim and his friend, Nicoulin, were both inside the home. Nicoulin handled a gun and it accidently discharged, as a result, the victim sustained a gunshot wound.

Detectives recovered the weapon from the scene.

Based on the facts of the investigation, detectives booked Nicoulin with one count of negligent homicide.
