Juvenile Arrested for Vehicle Burglary, Illegal Use of a Firearm

NOPD Seventh District General Assignment officers have arrested a 15-year-old male for multiple charges including vehicle burglary and firing a weapon at a passing vehicle.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on July 6, 2017, the teen was observed firing multiple rounds at a white Nissan Pathfinder as it drove past him near the intersection of Dwyer Road at Majestic Oaks Drive.  As law enforcement officers arrived at the location, the juvenile fled the scene. Officers formed a perimeter around the block and NOPD’s Canine Unit was dispatched to locate the suspect and the weapon. Canine Unit officers Tim Bender, Kurt Eischen, Brett Pittman and canine Paco soon located the suspect’s weapon and apprehended the juvenile in the backyard of a residence in the 6500 block of Virgilian Street.

During the course of the subsequent investigation, it was determined that the juvenile was wanted for a vehicle burglary in the 7700 block of Briarwood Drive on January 25, 2017. He was arrested for being a juvenile in possession of a firearm, simple criminal damage to property, illegal use of a firearm, and simple burglary of a vehicle.
