UPDATE: Vehicle recovered from Armed Robbery on Chef Menteur Highway and Cardenas

Our original story:

 

NOPD is looking for a suspect and a stolen vehicle taken during an armed robbery that occurred earlier today (Jan. 24) at Chef Menteur Highway and Cardenas Drive.

 

The victim reported that at 12:54 a.m., while sitting at a stop sign checking the map app on his phone, he was approached by an unknown male who demanded the victim’s property and his keys. The victim complied and exited the vehicle, then the perpetrator entered the vehicle and fled the scene.

 

The suspect is described as being approximately 5’10” tall. he was wearing a black mask, a long-sleeved green shirt, and carrying a dark colored firearm.

 

The stolen vehicle is a black 2017 Kia Forte with Louisiana license plate number 923AKC. A photo of a similar make and model is included.

Armed Robbery

In Louisiana, an armed robbery conviction requires the offender to be imprisoned at hard labor for 10 – 99 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. When a firearm is used in the commission of the crime, the offender will be imprisoned for an additional 5 years that will be served consecutively to the original sentence.
