Officer Jason Collins and Joel Smith Named Bardell Co. Officers Of The Month

Eighth District officers Jason Collins & Joel Smith were both named Bardell Co. Officers of the Month this January. Collins and Smith were both nominated by their supervisors in the Eighth District for their proactive work while patrolling and making numerous arrests in the Bourbon Street area.

Chris Bardell, the owner and operator of more than a dozen McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater New Orleans area, started the recognition program in September as a way to reward NOPD patrol officers for the good work they do every day.

As part of the honor, the Bardell Co., awards the winning officers with a $750 scholarship, which will be split between both officers to participate in police training and leadership programs across the country. Since September, Bardell has given away $3,000 in scholarships.

Collins and Smith accepted their award at the January “Coffee with Cops” event today (Jan. 14) at the McDonald’s located at 711 Canal Street.
