NOPD Officer’s Vehicles Burglarized, Stolen in Incident on Wave Drive

The personal and service vehicles of an NOPD officer were reported stolen from the 7500 block of Wave Drive on January 12, 2017, while a third vehicle at the scene was reportedly burglarized. The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating and identifying two subjects caught on video and believed to be responsible for the crimes.

At about 2 a.m., the two unknown subjects were seen on surveillance video appearing to break into a parked blue Chevrolet car at the location, identified as a car rented by the officer. Upon burglarizing the vehicle, the subjects obtained keys to the officer’s unmarked police vehicle, a silver 2015 Ford Taurus with black tint and bearing Louisiana public license plate # 244838, and the officer’s personal vehicle, a white 2010 GMC Sierra truck bearing Louisiana license plate # B819594. The suspects entered the Ford Taurus and fled the scene, returning about 40 minutes later and driving away in the GMC Sierra.

The two vehicles pictured are also believed to have been involved in the incident. The white vehicle pictured is described as a 2008 Lincoln MKX, also reported as stolen in a previous incident, and has been reportedly seen in both the Fifth and Seventh districts.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.

Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
