The NOPD is investigating a single car accident that took the life of a man early Tuesday morning (Jan. 17).
Around 3:03 a.m., Seventh District officers and traffic division officers responded to a traffic accident with injury on I -10 east near the Morrison exit. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a white, 2006 Nissan Titan truck was traveling eastbound on the interstate when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control striking a pole base. The vehicle then turned on its side against the wall along the interstate.
The driver of the truck was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and will release the identity of the victim upon completion of autopsy. A toxicology examination will be conducted. No further information is available at this time.
