NOPD Arrests Suspect on Weapon and Drug Charges

On January 10, 2017, the NOPD arrested Wardell Herrington (DOB: 11-17-1985) on weapon and drug charges during a traffic stop at the intersection of Warfield and Dale streets.

At about 8:15 p.m., Herrington was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by Seventh District officers for traffic violations. During the stop, Herrington was found to be in possession of marijuana and a firearm, in addition to being identified as a convicted felon. Officers arrested Herrington on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of Schedule I drugs.

The arrest came as a result of increased police patrolling in the area, in response to recent violent crimes.
