Suspect Arrested in NOPD Homicide Investigation Through Assistance of Crimestoppers Tip, STPSO

On January 22, 2023, Cache Shelton (black female, DOB: 03-17-1996) was arrested in St. Tammany Parish in connection with the NOPD's investigation of a homicide that occurred on December 27, 2022, in the 300 block of Julia Street in New Orleans.

Around 8:40 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of Julia Street. Upon their arrival, the officers discovered the 29-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later expired.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Shelton as the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Shelton on a charge of second-degree murder.

On January 22, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office located Shelton in that jurisdiction with the assistance of a tip submitted through Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans. Shelton was arrested and booked as a fugitive. As of this writing, she remains in custody in St. Tammany Parish and is awaiting extradition to Orleans Parish to face the murder charge.

The NOPD thanks its partners in the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office and Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans for their assistance in arresting this wanted suspect.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Homicide Det. Miles Guirreri at 504-658-5300.
