Today (January 10, 2023), members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) and the U.S. Marshals today arrested Elijah Williams (black male, DOB: 11-18-2003) in the investigation of a homicide incident that occurred on December 25, 2022, in the 2000 block of Saint Maurice Street that left two victims dead and four injured.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on December 25, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon their arrival, officers located four victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced a 19-year-old male victim and a 19-year-old female victim dead on the scene. In addition, two 18-year-old males, a 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old female were each transported to a local hospital via private conveyance.

As the investigation progressed, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Williams as the perpetrator in this incident. Anonymous tips submitted through Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans aided detectives in identifying the perpetrator. An arrest warrant was then secured for Williams on two counts of second-degree murder and on four counts of attempted second-degree murder.

Williams was located arrested today in the Sixth District and transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges.
